Cosmin TRG – Plaisir Interdit (Ain Aimee)
Taken from Various Artists – Inertia 4 (Ain Aimee)
The final hurrah for Ann Aimee’s Inertia compilation sees four modern techno heavyweights add their exclusive sounds to the fold.
Recent album stars Skudge are as economical yet efficient as you’d expect with their booming ‘Pollution,’ before Conforce designs yet more lush sounds with his deep technoid cut ‘When It Appeared.’ Restless Romanian Cosmin TRG confounds expectationst again with his rusty, rolling cut ‘Plaisir Interdit’ before Fachwerk co-founder Sascha Rydell gets a little spaced out on his kinetic and melancholic effort, ‘Rainy Days’.
Stand out on its own, but peerless when paired with the other three parts, Inertia 4 ends a special project indeed.
Amor Y Otros – album snippet
Here’s a little snippet of a track on my forthcoming album, Simulat, out August 26th on Modeselektor‘s 50 Weapons label.
A Universal Crush – out now on Rush Hour

Boomkat: Cosmin TRG continues his trajectory into deeper House and Techno grooves on his third release for Rush Hour’s Direct Current series. The title track begins with a cascade of strangely tuned strings before becoming consumed by driving 4/4s, while ‘Negligee’ views Detroit from a distance with zig-zagging bars oscillating between pitched strings and squirming bleeps propelled by thick, padded bottom end. Magnetic Bodies’ takes the vibe somewhere more romantic with fluttering synths and cannily uplifting chord progressions alloyed to firm but supple rhythm programming and ‘Sirop’ elevates the energy levels for a finely filtered construction fusing NYC Garage and Chicago House sensibilities. Ace.

Liebe Suende review on Resident Advisor
“Liebe Suende” builds a nest out of dusty drum-machine hits and multiple layers of processed samples, which sketch out the tonal outline; its loose, thumping groove signals its rejection of a purist four-to-the-floor stomp at the tail end of every four bars, when the kick drum stubbornly stumbles. As the tune builds, fluttering chords and a detuned acid line fill out the spaces in between dry beats, like a skeleton oozing something viscous.
A very kind and informative review of Liebe Suende/ Sores of Attraction (Rush Hour) by the illustrious Philip Sherburne for Resident Advisor.

Cosmin TRG does it again, serving two heavyweight House heaters for Rush Hour’s Direct Current Series. It’s been simply impossible to ignore this guy’s releases this year; witnessing his metamorphosis into a House music futurist has been an absolute pleasure to witness. This time out he gives the haughty thrust of ‘Liebe Suende’ on the A-side, where it’s all about the kinked kick drums and chopped R’n'B samples, kinda like a hornier version of Ramadanman and Midland’s exploits for Aus. On the flip, ‘Sores Of Attraction’ tucks into a ruder Techno/House burner, erecting majestic chords reminiscent of Theo Parrish’s ‘Overyohead’ around irresistibly moist jack ‘n shuffle rhythms.
Carhartt x UDG x Cosmin TRG

Carhartt and UDG joined forces on possibly the ultimate DJ/ Producer bag out there. They had me and a few other people beta-test it and come back with feedback (you might know the other guys: Carl Craig, Benji B). You can read about my experience with it on the Carhartt music blog.
